Gargle warm salt water.
Eating pineapple helps as well. Just don't have much milk or yoghurt with pineapple though as it will curdle and you will be sick. Badly...

Suffer with tonsillitis almost twice a year. Whenever ive asked for tonsils out they just prescribe be antibiotics. Suppose thats what i get for having doctors in the nice area of newham where Doctor degrees are handing out with jobseekers allowance.
Anyway, hot drinks usually help me. I find the local chinky shops curry sauce aswell. Burns the throat i suppose.

You've probably got tonsillitis. If you don't have them removed, you will die.
An immediate trip to your nearest accident and emergency department is my recommendation.
